eating better

Healthy eating doesn't come easy to everyone, but there are many ways you can work on it, especially with these simple tips to make your diet healthier.

Whether you enjoy cooking or can't stand it, take some time to sit down and think about the obstacles to eating healthy in your life. If you don't have time to cook a full dinner each night, would meal prepping during the weekend work for you? Or even preparing ingredients beforehand? Is there a meal delivery box you've been wanting to try?

If you're like me and don't enjoy cooking, go online to find quick recipes and healthy frozen dinner options.

Sticking with this new habit for a few months will likely see you feeling better in your body and your wallet.

staying active

Being active looks different to different people. Some people like to go for a run, hit the gym, or enjoy a daily morning walk with their fur baby. Whatever your chosen activity, make time for it. There are so many benefits that come with regular exercise from improving your heart health, building and preserving muscle, and contributing to your mental health.

Your daily activity may be something you do alone (we all need some me time!) or may overlap as a social activity.

prioritize sleep

Do you stay up too late, or hit snooze too often in the morning? Set an alarm on your phone in the evening to signal when it's time to turn off the TV and put away the screens. Pick up a book, journal, or meditate to help your body wind down for sleep.

If you hit snooze often in the morning, you can try charging your phone across the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off, or if you are disciplined, set a goal that you won't snooze the alarm anymore. If you usually shower at night, try showering in the morning for a wake-up.

decompress

It is important to learn how to manage stress in a healthy way. Being mindful throughout the day helps you keep in touch with your emotions, stress, and overall sense of self. Taking steps to de-clutter your brain such as keeping a brain-dump notepad next to your bed to write down those ideas that keep you awake.

If you've been considering therapy but don't know how to find a therapist, check out BetterHelp. You can fill out a profile and get connected with a therapist for online video chats and messaging - for much less $$ than a private therapy practice..

dental hygeine

We all know that brushing our teeth and flossing daily is important, but it's more than cosmetic. Preventing tartar buildup and maintaining healthy gums is keep to keep your body healthy. Poor oral hygiene can stress your immune system. When you visit your dentist, ask them to be honest about how you are doing with your oral hygiene and ask for tips on how to be better. Ask for affordable but dentist-approved options for electric toothbrushes and talk about different options for flossing.
