careers that pay

While many argue that a job or career shouldn't define you, you do spend a significant chunk of your week at that job. Do you want to enjoy it, or just get that 9 to 5 over with?

Would you prefer to do something you are passionate about or is it all about money? A career can start out as a means to an end, but you may learn to love what you do. On the other hand, you may choose to take a lower-paying job because it's something you're passionate about. Lastly, keep in mind that sometimes you need to work in various entry-level positions to gain the experience needed for some more senior roles.

blogging

How do people actually make money blogging? There are a number of ways. Whether you're a blogger or a YouTuber, these two digital jobs have become lucrative careers for some, resulting in six-figure salaries and brand deals.

What typically starts as a hobby and grow into digital success if you do it right. Think about what you have to offer, and establish your niche. Many successful bloggers and YouTubers actually post about how they got to where they are! Check out their courses and videos to help you get started. Depending on what you blog or vlog about, you could form the springboard for a successful business in freelance, content creation, or campaign management.

medical industry

Working in the medical industry doesn't require going to nursing or medical school. You can get training in support roles and benefit from the stability of the healthcare industry. Specific recruitment consultants like cmr.com.au can help you find a role that is the best fit for you. This blog post goes through options like mental health specialist, search and rescue, and pain specialists.

the private sector

Whether you're getting your graduate degree in the sciences or aiming for an English professoriate, there's always the option to hit the private sector. Often called "industry" among academia, the work is faster paced, broad rather than deep, and comes without the stacks of research-on-teaching-on-tenure responsibilities that a faculty position has. Even more, if you're a people person, consider these careers.

small business owner

If you'd like to work for yourself, take the plunge and set up your own business. If you are always full of ideas, consider transforming your ideas into services or products, and making them available to the consumer. Here are 4 tips for starting your own business.
