If you feel like your current career plans are not really going anywhere for you, you might be tempted to take a new approach and to find a career that is more in line with your personality. And if you’re the kind of person that likes other people and enjoys communicating with them, you should find a career that can play to that particular strength. There are many of them out there so you won’t be left short of options. Here are some great career paths to consider you’re a real people person.

There's a difference between having people-facing skills and being a people person. And often in academia, the mix is weighted more towards people working hard to develop interpersonal skills, but not jumping up and down to do people-facing work. So if you're considering alternatives to academia, don't pass up these positions.
Great Careers if You're a People Person

Event Management

Managing events and organizing them is one niche career that has grown massively in recent years. These days, events are held for pretty much everything you could name. So if you feel like you’re the kind of person who could really benefit from working in events and managing the needs and interests of various people as you do, this could your ideal career.

Human Resources Management

Are you a people person? There's jobs for you!
Human resources is one of those things that is hard to get right if you don’t enjoy communicating with people openly and directly. If you do enjoy that kind of stuff however, it could be a career that really works well for you. It’s about managing issues and reaching compromises when there are problems in workplaces. And that’s about as tricky and delicate as it sounds, so you need to always tread carefully.

Local News Journalism

In the world of journalism, you have to connect with people and make them trust you if you’re going to have any chance of getting to the heart of the story. So if you feel like you’re good at building trust with people and pushing things so far but not too far, a career in local news journalism might be exactly what you’re looking for. If you have a strong English background, make sure that you document this in your CV. If you don’t have a CV yet, check out these entry level resume templates.

Counseling

This is a career path that is great for people who enjoy communicating with other people, as well as helping them when they’re most in need of help. Counselling is a massively positive force in the lives of many people around the country and around the world. You can get a masters of clinical mental health counseling if you want to be part of it and want to make it your career.

Sales Representative

Being a sales representative is not easy because people are more and more aware of the techniques used in sales. If you’re going to sell to people on a one to one basis, you need to be authentic about it and show potential customers that you can be trusted. If you feel like this challenge is one that would excite and one you would eventually excel in, you should go for it. Many industry jobs for PhDs are sales-focused, so if you have the knowledge background and the sales skills, you can make it big.

Medical Professional

Many people join the medical field because they want to help people. What they may not know is that you don't have to go the nurse or physician route to be a medical professional. You can visit Monica Kraft Duke Settlement online to learn more about opportunities in the medical field.

Being a people person means that there are plenty of jobs that you’re ideally suited to. Of course, your own preferences and other skills and experience will help dictate your career path, but there’s nothing wrong with exploring the options if any of the potential career options here have got you thinking.
