Here are some of the productivity and career tools I use most often, and find most helpful. Any affiliations or affiliate links are marked with an asterisk (*).

I first discovered Charlie Gilkey at Productive Flourishing through his free planners. They're unique because they're about productivity - not just keeping a schedule.

From the Daily Momentum Planner to the Productivity Jumpstarter, it's worth clicking the images above to download your free copies.

If they work for you, consider downloading the entire dated digital pack with annual goal setting pages, monthly and weekly reviews, and more. It's the perfect solution if you're a print-your-own-planner type or a digital planner keeper (all PDFs are editable).

There is a lot more on Charlie's website than free planners though. Peruse the website, and be sure to check out his book,
Start Finishing*. It's even available for your Kindle (though I wouldn't trade my hardcopy for anything).

When you join CSA, you also get access to the other members of the association - scientists all over the world. You'll be part of the private Facebook community, hearing others' transition stories, seeing job postings, and learning and sharing with the community.

You can learn more at www.cheekyscientist.com and download free resources, like e-books and articles, before you even join.
Since starting my PhD program in epidemiology, I've known that academia wouldn't be the career route for me. I've since joined the Cheeky Scientist Association, which provides comprehensive support to helping you transition from academia to industry.

While the majority of members are postdocs looking to get out of an endless cycle of poor payment and underappreciation, joining while you're still a PhD student means you can leverage the networking tools to have an industry job waiting for you when you graduate.

The one-time fee to join is worth it. You'll walk through their videos and use the resources to get yourself job search ready, and if you have specific interests, such as an MBA focus or being a medical science liason, they have additional support, too.

Have you heard of Passion Planner? It's a unique type of planner that helps you identify what's important to you, and how to achieve your goals. From the Passion Roadmap (below, left) to monthly layouts and weekly spreads (below, right), and the new daily version, there are options to choose from (academic, dated, undated) as well as accessories.

It's worth checking out the free PDF downloads to give the Passion Planner layout a try. Print it off, put on a clipboard, and try it out for a week or a month.
